History
The WP e-Commerce Plugin started as “cool idea” back in 2005, it was a small project designed to help our friends setup an online shop. Since then it has grown to be the largest WordPress e-Commerce Plugin in the world and it is used on hundreds of thousands of sites and seen by millions of people every day.
Everything you see here, from the documentation to the code itself, was created by and for the community. The WP e-Commerce Plugin is an Open Source project, which means there are hundreds of people all over the world working on it!!

On this site you can download and install a software script called WP e-Commerce. To do this you need a working WordPress site, a web host who meets the minimum requirements and a little time.
Just like WordPress is, WP e-Commerce is completely customizable and can be used to sell almost anything. There is also a service called GetShopped.com which lets you get started with a new and free WordPress-based shop in seconds.
