I just upgraded to 3.7 RC1 & am thrilled to see that WP e-Commerce is running so much better on my site! Sadly, the main reason I upgraded was to solve issues I'd been having with associating files with variations...

In 3.6.12, it took FOREVER to load the variations and would only occasionally finish to the point where I could choose files for the variations. Now that I've upgraded to 3.7 RC 1, the variations load lightning quick, but I'm not being given the option to associate the variation with a file.

Has this functionality been removed altogether or am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Thanks!

In short: Can I still associate files with variations in 3.7 RC1?

Can you supply a few more details so that your problem can be visualized without being able to see your screen. What precisely do you men by "load the variations"? Do you mean upload them? Please describe step-by-step exactly what your method is for associating the variation to a file. This can be a bit tricky.

Thanks terhi, I'll try to be as specific as I can.

I have setup one set of Variations, "File format", under which are options for JPEG and PDF.
When adding a product, I click the check mark in the Variation Control section next to the words "File format".
At this point, two more check boxes are generated, one for JPEG and another for PDF.
A few seconds later the Edit Variation Set table loads beneath it and has the following colums: Variation, Price, More.
Here I click More and the Weight Settings options are displayed for that file type.
In v3.6.12 this section also allowed me to select a file for this particular file type. I no longer see anything other than the Weight Settings in this section.
My files have been pre-uploaded & I imagined there would be a list of files to choose from, as there used to be.
I hope that helps shed a bit of light on the issue. I'd be happy to provide any further details, just ask.
    Thanks again for the assistance!

Bumped again. C'mon, this should be a pretty simple thing to answer... Are we still able to associate individual files with variations in WP eCommerce 3.7 or has this functionality been removed for some reason?

It seems that code was accidentally removed, it will be back in the next version.

Until that is released, I can give you a fixed variations.class.php file that will also fix the problem.

    Thanks a million, truly.

Well damned, I really thought that was going to work...

The php file you sent me worked like a charm, allowing me to attach files to my variations just as I'd done before. The problem didn't show up until tonight when I tried to actually purchase something from my shop. It seems that Variations aren't creating Download Links for users on the Transaction Results page (nor are they sent in the email to customers). I disabled the variations on a listing, tried purchasing it again, and was given a download link to the usual, default file.

I really appreciate all your help & hate to be a pest, but if you've any ideas that might help me set this issue straight, I'm all ears! I was really excited about being able to offer both JPEG and PDF downloads to my users & hope to still be able to offer them this service in the near future.

    Thanks,
    - Ken

... belay that request, apparently I'm just an idiot. Found the issue & it was indeed a simple one - stupid user error ;)
Thanks again for everything, it all seems to be working like a charm now. Marking as resolved.

    Keep up the great work!!!

Alright, so I thought it was user error, that I hadn't clicked the dot next to the filename or hadn't saved the listing properly. It turns out it wasn't me after all...

I've got two choices setup under one Variation named "File type", they are JPEG and PDF, in that order. When I try to associate files with them, everything looks like it's working properly, but on re-examining the listing, I find that 9 times out of 10 the selections have reset themselves to "No Product". It seems to happen to the PDF choice more frequently than the JPEG option, but both have proven problematic.

Any advice on making these selections "sticky" like they were meant to be? Thanks!

Another minor glitch I've noticed with Variations: when a customer selects a variation, it used to alter the Item Price on the listing to match what was set on that variation. Now it's just showing the default price no matter what's selected. When the item is added to the cart, the cart shows the correct total, but I really don't want to "surprise" my customers like that if I can avoid it. Just thought I'd throw that out there since we're discussing the joys of variations.

I don't know if this might have anything to do with the issue, but I was looking over the "Purchase Receipt" from my test purchase and noticed the word "Array" sticking out like a sore thumb... It looks like part of the code has slipped free and is invading my text, lol. Here's an edited copy for your inspection:

    You ordered these items:
    - Test Listing (JPEG) $0.10 Click to download:
    [LINK REMOVED]
    Array - 1 Test Listing (PDF) $0.11
    - Shipping:$0.00
    Your Purchase No.: 4
    Total Shipping: $0.00
    Total: $0.21

For the moment I've disabled Variations completely. I'll keep checking here in case anyone has any ideas. Thanks!
