So...finally...WPMU and WP Ecommerce work seemlessly together. I have tested this extensively and can happily say all is well in the world.

For my tests, I installed WPMU 2.8.4a and the newest Development Version of WP ECommerce found here:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-e-commerce/download/

After installation, I tested on the main blog and everything works great. I then set up a user blog and again, everything works great...no "these directories are not writeable, etc"...it just works.

    So...if you're in the market for a WPMU/WP Ecommerce setup...you're in business!

    Hi Shayne,
That is great to hear. I'm looking to set up a WPMU where each website has a store built in. I am already using WP-ECommerce and am glad to hear it will work for this!

So have you any gotchas or tips for someone trying to get WP-Ecommerce working well with WPMU? Any sage advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I must apologize in advance for my ignorance here.

I attempted install of the newest Development Version of WP ECommerce (3.7.5Beta1) and WPMU 2.8.4a first by uploading via the administrations plugins page and then second through ftp. (I did 2 clean installs hoping to fix the problem)

Both times of doing this WP E-Commerce worked great for the main admin site but none of the additional blogs that were created had the 'Products' tab in the menu. I made sure after installing WP E-Commerce to go into the admins plugin page and clicked 'Activate WP Shopping Cart Site Wide'.

Any ideas what I may be missing? Thanks in advance!

Just a quick update to see if this can help find a solution but I realized that if I log in as the main WPMU administrator and visit any of the blog's dashboard, I can click on the 'plugins' menu item and it then activates the WP E-Commerce plugin for just that blog. Most all plugins I've seen automatically are added to all of the blogs site wide. Am I missing something?

You're not missing anything....by default, WPMU does not activate all plugins that are available when a user creates a blog.

You can install this plugin on your main MU installation:

    http://firestats.cc/wiki/WPMUPluginCommander

Then in it's settings, it will allow you to choose what plugins get automatically activated when a user creates a blog. Turn on WP Ecommerce, then when a user creates a blog and logs into the admin area, they will see the "Products" tab.

It took me a minute to realize that I needed the 2.7.5 beta version, but once I uploaded that, everything worked great. This is very cool.

I'm up and running tests at http://youcansellcrafts.com. If someone could test it and let me know if anything breaks, I would really appreciate the help.

    Thanks Shayne! This rocks.

I'm on WPMU2.8.4a and WPEC2.7.5 beta 2 and seem to be having SSL issues that is stopping images from displaying alongside products. Any ideas? This problem isn't replicated on a WPEC setup on the same server, but running on standard WP.

Looks great, I found this product yesterday, purchased gold and dragdrop already, can you clear up a couple of points about WPMU and the ecommerce, before I go done this route of multiple accounts, is there a parent store on MU where all products can be viewed and purchased from any vendor.

I purchased the drag drop plug-in, do all product uploaded to child blogs have their own drag drop carts or do product from all child store have thier own dragdrop cart.

Does each child store have it's own payment gateway?

    Thanks

    David ;-)

There is no "parent" store so to say...each "child" store is independent and will not be able to use the dropshop module from main install. Each "child" store also has it's own products, checkout and payment gateways...there is not a "single" chekout...

Thanks for the quick reply, I love the product and the dropshop, I wanted to work as a merchant system and dispaly only digital assets, where each Vendor manages thier own products, image, skins, audio, video etc:, and thier own PayPal gateway is entered, when a transaction takes place using the 'new' Paypal API take a merchant fee at the point of checkout.

PayPal are launching a new API like the Amazon Payments, where you can have several products from different vendors, and affiliates, when a single payment is processed it is split to the different PayPal Accounts, no holding or waiting for payments, example would be Author or Vendor gets 80%, affiliate 5% merchant 15% .

Apart from the gateway, is there anyway that different vendors can just see and manage just thier own digital assets, and a Vendors collection page?

    Regards

How does WPSC copy it's contents from the /plugins directory to the blog.dir/#/files/wpsc? The reason I'm asking is that it seems to copy the contents of the regular folder, but the "upgrades" such as "Gold" and "members" upgrades aren't copied to the blog directory when I activate the plugin in the WPMU admin area.

If I manually add the Gold & membership plugins to the appropriate upgrade folder inside /blog.dir/ then it shows them in the admin interface but also seems to copy some of the "General" WPSC settings from one blog to another. ie: I built a shopping cart in blog1, then activated another cart in blog2 and the General settings from blog1 seem to be pulled in to blog2 as well.

Looking forward to seeing this more integrated. If anyone has ideas I'm open to suggestions!

Yeah, currently the gold module is not going to apply to user\'s blogs...this is something that will be developed, but I can\'t give you a timeline at this point.

For the time being, you can have your client purchase the gold module (or you can for them) and then manually add it to their directory.

The "remove" and "update" buttons in the shopping cart still do not work with domain mapping enabled in wpmu. If you don't have domain mapping enabled, however, it does work. Thoughts?

    1. I\'m using WPMU 2.8.6 and for some reason when installing WPEC 3.5.7.1 It created a products_page link with no actual pages.. I try to deactivate the plugin and the links is stuck there... http://bonsaibeats.com
    2. I cannot upgrade my API key.. I do the reset but nothing happens.

The only other plugins I\'m running are WPML and Disqus Comments.

So what's odd is how on the latest WPMU it created pages as posts that were invisible, I went into the db and removed them creating my own but sheesh.

I can confirm the db issue with wpmu 2.8.6 and wp e-commerce 3.7.5.1 & 3.7.5.2.

It worked for me in 3.7.5 by the way. Any idea how to fix this? I can access the db and see that the tables are empty. bonsaibeats, how did you create your own? Just manually enter the information into the db? That's a major pain.

Yeah, manually enter. Sucks though I cannot get my freaking cart to upgrade.. Support is snailesque here.

I have WordPress MU 2.8.6. and WP Shopping Cart pluging Versión 3.7.5.2, and i work good on the parente blog, but i can´t config template and base config (General config) on the rest of blogs (the blogs are with subdomain config).

If i buy the Gold Cart, and the rest pluging, ¿Can get this new funtions to the rest of blogs?

    thanks.

@giannii "Support is snailesque here." LOL, no joke. Shayne knows his stuff, but that's also how he makes his living so....

@callevirtual, I purchased the gold cart upgrade and it only works on one domain, each of the blogs have to independently pay to use the upgrades. I'm not sure what you're asking about with the base config. Try looking into "wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/wpsc-includes/theme.functions.php" if your problem is with the way the theme is displaying on your template.

I am running a WPMU install with subdomains and can access and use wp e-commerce across multiple sites, but have some serious issues with the necessary CSS customization needed for e-commerce to work across several different blog templates AND there's some issue with the shopping cart where the "update" and "remove" buttons do not work if you have domain mapping enabled. I've written support several times with no response.

Honestly, I'm looking into competing options at this point to work with WPMU with less hassle. I'm regretting purchasing the gold cart module as it has lots of potential, but the delivery is pretty buggy. I haven't completely given up yet, but other pluggins show more promise at the point IMHO.

Anyone else out there care to comment? Getting an e-commerce solution working properly with wpmu is high on my list at this point.

I've been working to marry wpmu and wpecommerce since about a year ago and had given up because wpecommerce was so buggy back then and the support isn't there even for paid customers. Recently I happily restarted my project after testing the latest version and thought it finally works... but now my morale is back to zero after seeing this thread. My God, I have not test the domain mapping yet!

The next best thing could be the plugin named Shopp. However, the last time I looked at it, it does not have the option for manual payment.

finally had the chance to test my wpmu install with domain mapping. The "remove" and "update" buttons in the shopping cart IS working.

My set up is wpmu 2.8.6. MU Domain Mapping For Supporters Only (by Aaron Edwards) and WPEC 3.7.5.2.

    Hello @hotohori,

I'm runnng wpmu 2.8.6 and MU Domain Mapping for Supporters from wpmu premium devs along with WPEC 3.7.5.3 and the "remove" and "update" buttons are not working. Any chance I can get a link to your site and see what you've got going on that might help me out? I'd really appreciate a solution on this one.

    Hi masonjames,

I almost jumped after I recreate the test site for you because the "remove" and "update" buttons didn't work at first on the recreated test site. I found the answer after some investigation. The trick is in the permalink. Go to >>Products>>Admin>>URL Settings, and change the url to the domain name you are using.

ie. if mapping "mydomain.com" to "mydomain.site.com", you have to change the links from "http://mydomain.site.com/products-page/" to "http://mydomain.com/products-page/". Same with shopping cart and Transaction links.

Hope this works for you too. You can try it on my test site mediabonkers.com.

    hotohori,

I cannot thank you enough for this info! You are absolutely right. This corrected the "update" and "remove" checkout page errors I was receiving. The funny thing is that on another subdomain on this same issue I had changed these settings because the individual product pages would not load until the changes were made. For whatever reason, everything worked on this site (which I actually created first) except for the above error.

At any rate, as soon as I implemented the changes you described everything is working perfectly! I'm still not sold on the wpsc solution... lack of support is definitely detrimental to what they're success, but they are, at least, working together. Thanks again!

Having a new issue with this. On m wpmu 2.9.1 install with the latest wp e-commerce, everything works fine except the checkout page. It loads, but only gives the options for shipping and billing address. There's no way to enter payment information (I have paypal set up for a production site). I need to get this corrected ASAP. Here's a link:

I have searched high and low and cannot seem to find the answer to this. I have shipping set and when someone goes to order on my site, it tells them to enter their zip code but then it gives this error:
Sorry, online ordering is unavailable to this destination and/or weight. Please double check your destination details.

Also, ir does not provide a place to enter in the billing or shipping info. How do I fix this issue. I am using WPMU 2.9.1 and WPEC 3.7.5.3

    My site link is http://positiverealestateprofessionals.com/spoiledpetcafe/products-page/checkout/

    I'm about to install WP-e-Commerce on WP-MU

Before I do, i'd appreciate advice and experiences people have had with themes..

I prefer the site homepage to have a different theme to the child sites that will be created, so...Which themes work well as the Parent theme and which are best (and work) for child themes?

All help and advice and suggestions are very welcome :-)

    Hello,

is there a way to replicate shops?

I am creating ready made marketing sites using WPMU. What users get are identical sites with identical pages yet with their own unique Blog.

I need a solution that will allow me to give each user.mysite.tld an identical shop with identical products and identical pricing.

The only unique items are their paypal address and shipping cost, which I will collect individually.

Lastly, user should not be able to edit their shop settings in any way, yet use the reporting function.

I expect the shops will have 4-5 categories and maybe 20-30 products in total.

    Many thanks for your guidance,
    RalfB

Reply to self, possibly this plug-in (http://www.visser.com.au/wp-ecommerce/addons/product-importer-deluxe/) for replicating shops using a CSV file.

    Now faced with the following:

Is it possible to mod the wp-commerce plug-in in such as way that it connects to the main blog's database table for most items but connects to the individual blog owner's DB table for things like paypal, order tracking, fulfillment, reporting and shipping?

In summary, each individual blog gets an identical store with identical products and pricing, yet each blog owner manages shipping and also gets paid individually. (at this stage I'm only going to work with paypal)

This is an interim solution for a small home based business company that as yet does not have central fulfillment capabilities.

Hi, finding my way around wordpress MU and WP ecommerce. Is there any documentation on how to use the main blog site as an aggregate of all of members' stores with featured new products selected from among the stores? Thanks.
