We've got a variety of resources to help you get the most out of the WordPress e-Commerce plugin. Your first stop should be our documentation, where you'll find information on everything from installation to design and theming your shop.

Hello everyone, i have a couple of questions to ask. I\'m currently running the latest version of Wordpress (2.9) and the e-commerce plugin.

    1. To SSL or not to SSL.
Main reason I ask this is because for the time being, i\'m using Paypal Standard Payments, which sends the user to the Paypal website for most of the purchase. Is SSL really necessary in this situation?

    2. File downloading and shipping information
The system works great. Tried it and tested it many times. But I don\'t really want users to input their shipping address for MP3 downloading. I sell both MP3s AND CDs on the same store, so if a user does decide to purchase one of both, then yes, go ahead and put the shipping information in. I saw on another site that used the same plugin that on checkout, the user only needed to put in their Name and e-mail address. Still don\'t know how that works if I need their shipping info if they ordered a CD. (Example site: http://www.digitalwreka.com/newsblog/store/ )

    3. Optional user/store accounts.
Having a user optionally sign up for an account would be a good idea on our website. The example site above shows the option. Does being signed in on an account save shipping/account credentials? Or how does that work?

    4. Donation based system.
This actually worked really well in my favor because on our website, we allow our audience to \"pay-what-they-want\" (variable pricing) for our MP3 releases. At the time, we were using Payloadz to handle this for us and e-commerce does it quite well. On the products page, there\'s the small input form for typing in your price, followed by \"add to cart\". How can i implement this exact same form and button on another page? (Similar to using the shortcode [add_to_cart=1] on other posts/pages but for donation based products).

    4.1 Minimum donation.
Payloadz allowed us to set a minimum amount users could input. For instance, a minimum may be $3.00 - if the user puts less than that (say $2.00), you will get a notification that the amount must be equal to or higher than $3.00

    5. Making your “checkout” link bigger and move it.
    As shown here: http://www.wordpressme.org/2008/04/top-5-wordpress-ecommerce-tips/
I tried to follow the instructions but I couldn't find the code necessary in the shopping_cart_functions.php file.

Thank you very much in advance! This is a great plugin and i hope to keep using it in the future.

    Figured out #4.
I just copied the form information used on the products-page and implemented it in other posts/pages. Worked out quite well, except the little "fancy" pop up doesn't appear right where the "Add to cart" button is, as shown on the screenshot below:

Figured out #2 as I just made the address/city/country information optional.

Tried to log earlier today into the admin section of the blog but i kept getting a blank page. So i removed each plugin until i found out that the culprit was WP-e-commerce. When I tried to reinstall the plugin, it kept triggering Fatal Error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 8192 bytes) in...

The day before, i did upgrade my PHP version via CPanel from version 4 to 5 for compatibility with another plugin, so i guess that may have caused the problem. I raised the memory limit on the php.ini file from 32MB to 64MB and finally to 128MB to no avail. At the moment, i don't see a way i can downgrade from PHP 5 to 4, so i'm not sure what to do.
