    Can the shopping cart combine a single item payment and a recurring payment into the same transaction?

    i.e. the user makes a one-off purchase, and also purchases a subscription that requires a regular payment

    Sam, my (albeit still limited) understanding is that cart currently cannot do the combined item, which is something I was looking for, and the monthly subscription product requires Gold Cart and Membership module.

    I actually have gone through this with many different shopping carts, and tons of hours on PayPal forums, emails to PayPal, etc.

    Long story short is that this is not a limitation of any 3rd party cart - PayPal itself does not allow the combination of a subscription and a regular payment together in the same session.

    I've ended up having to make some interesting changes in other software to deal with this, including error messages that tell them they have to temporarily remove one or the other to pay.

    Definitely not ideal, but it seems PayPal has no intention of changing this restriction anytime soon.
