Hi Adam,

I have not had much of a play with the MP3 player but this is how I would go about doing it.
Have you installed everything and is it working correctly?
The MP3 preview only lets you have one preview per product, so for the big list on Vorn, they are separate products, what I suggest, is having the album as a category with the specific songs as products, then have a product in there called full Album (if you want to sell a full album and not just tracks)
The presentation view they are using (store > settings > presentation) is the list view, im not sure how they got the preview in the list view, this could be a presentation option or happen automatically, If you start with that and let me know when you have your list etc I can have another look and we can go from there.

Any questions let me know

Thanks
Michelle

hi Mychelle,
sorry for my late reply, but i didn’t get any email notification about you response..
i’m still straggling with the same issue. i’ve got 3 products: 2 CD’s and one album for downloads. i’d like to be able to sell them track by track.
it looks very nice on: http://vorn.co.nz/products-page and that’s the way i’d like it to be on the site i’m working on. at the moment it looks like that: http://waldnermusic.com/shop2/ . i’d like to have 3 products on the products page with exactly the same option: buy the whole album or ‘buy the tracks here’. how can i make the products page look the same? my images are very small. i tried to change them in settings but nothing works..

ps. i’ve got album as category and specific songs as products, but it’s still not showing preview on the list.

i’d appreciate your help.
thanks,
Adam

right.. i figure out how to make it look similar to http://vorn.co.nz/products-page, but still don’t know how to make the list of tracks. if i change to ‘ ‘list view’ on the product page settings, then it will mess up my products page. i only want to have list view on the ‘buy the tracks’ page so it looks exactly like that: http://vorn.co.nz/vorn-and-the, opposed to what i have at the moment: http://waldnermusic.com/shop2/found-lost-downloads/

any ideas how to change that?
thanks,
Adam

Can you please tell me how you accomplished this. I have wasted money and so much time messing with this. I can’t believe I paid $50.00 for a product that has NO documentation, yet they sucker you in thinking you are going to buy this and get the same results Vorn got. Not working for me! Please help if you can.

Thanks!

hi Lynn,
1. go to http://screamingcodemonkey.com/2010/07/vorn-wp-e-commerce-mini-theme/ and download that theme.
2. upload it to the ‘theme’ folder located in wp-e-commerce folder (there should be other themes: default, iShop and marketplace)
3. go to setting for your store and set the ‘catalog view’ to ‘list view’.
//provided you’ve got the Gold Cart and mp3 player plugin installed and active it should work//

that’s the site i’ve done for one of my clients: http://waldnermusic.com/shop2/found-lost-mp3/

hope that helps,

Adam

Adam,
I’ve done everything you said and i can’t get it to work at all:
http://www.fatelessmusic.com/newsite/?page_id=40&category=4
it’s a mess! I’m really stuck. The Category View is set to list and the Theme is set to Vorn Theme.
When i look on the web server, I noticed that the Vorn Them (wpsc-vorn) has a .svn file and tmp file are those normal? i’ve never seen a .svn folder before.

I have so much music to upload and from the looks of this I have to do them one at a time and create a product for each song? is that correct?
I have a category with the artist name, then sub category with the CD title and then i created products for each song making the parent the CD title
I also created a product for the whole CD to buy and download.

Clearly I am doing something really wrong.
At this point I would do just about anything for some help with this!!

1. create a category called i.e. ‘albums’ and set the catalog view to ‘default view’ (ps. on the presentation settings the catalog view should be still ‘list view’)
2. go to each individual product you want to be displayed on your front page and add them to the ‘albums’ category (i guess it’s ‘surface 10′ and ‘Dean De Benedictis’ albums.
3. if you want to do ‘or by track here’, you need to type in <div class=”wpsc_description”>Or buy the tracksĀ here</div> (just with your URL of course;). You type it in on the edit product page in the top box (just underneath where the price is – in HTML!)

see how it works

Adam,
still not working:
Here’s what I did
I created a group called Albums (rather than products) I need a separate category for each artist and then sub categories under each artist for their CD’s. So here’s how I did that:

I created a Category called Dean De Benedictis.
Presentation Settings
To over-ride the presentation settings for this group you can enter in your prefered settings here
Catalog View: Default View
Thumbnail Size: Height: 150 Width: 150

Then I created a Category for Each CD Title Under Dean De Benedictis like this:
Presentation Settings
To over-ride the presentation settings for this group you can enter in your prefered settings here
Catalog View: Default View
Thumbnail Size: Height: 150 Width: 150

Next I went to Products and created a whole CD (ex. Dean De Benedictis: A Lone Reply ) for sale put the price $5.99.

I added this code to the description field: <div><span style=”color: #4b84c8; font-size: medium;”>Dean De Benedictis: A Lone Reply CD
</span><span style=”color: #4b84c8; font-size: medium;”>Or buy the tracks here</span></div>

Under Categories & Tags I put this:
Categories
Select “Albums”:
Dean De Benedictis

I added my thumbnail of the CD Cover,
Uploaded my zip file for the whole CD (how do you get that below 2mb?)

Nothing, The only thing that is different is now I see a list of all the CD’s available for sale under Dean’s Category but there are no prices, the link to “buy tracks here” doesn’t show up… it’s just not working.

I’m wondering 3 things;
1. Is this because of the theme I’m using for the whole site?
2. I noticed you have your store in a separate folder from the main site, do I have to do this and if so, how do I move all the WP-Ecommerce to a different subfolder and make it work?
3. Would you consider emailing me so we can communicate easier info@abhunting.com is my email address.

I’m really desperate to get this working and i don’t think i’m going to get much help from the wp-ecommerce people. I don’t mind giving you my login info for the wordpress site so you can look at it. I would be willing to pay a little for your time to help me set this up, but I can’t really pay you much because all of this is coming out of my pocket as the client has a set budget and I can’t go over it (i’m already doing this project for way less than i should be to help this guy out)

Your help is appreciated!

So I tweaked it a bit and got rid of all the CD categories and I’m definitely getting closer but not close enough.
I got the main product page to show the different categories of artists, and when you click on that artist it goes to the page with the list of CD’s and to buy the download or click for tracks.

The theme on the page is not right, black/blue/etc. matches my exisiting theme i need to change that.
Then on the actual tracks page, it still isn’t working like yours or Vorns.
