WP e-Commerce 3.8.2 and Gold Cart Plugin 2.9.1
We are pleased to say that 3.8.2 is now ready for your stores.
Like 3.8.1 this release covers more fixes and issues that have been reported by you, our beloved community, please see below for the full list of changes and modifications, we hope to bring you another few minor releases before we start development of features which will be cooked into 3.9.
Gold Cart 2.9.1 is also ready. In this bug fix update, we fixed two important bugs related to the Grid View, and the product thumbnail in single product view. Note that in order for this thumbnail fix to work, you need to upgrade your WordPress e-Commerce to 3.8.2 as well.

Good work team!! Another awesome release
When running the auto update for the plugin from within WP it did not update the gold cart files. I am unable to obtain them following the procedures on this website. It returns a blank page rather than the download link.
I assume the API Key will be the same, but if not – how do we get that update?
Lastly, I don’t want to update WP to v3.1.2 until you confirm it is working properly with the new cart.
Thanks in advance! I look forward to test driving the new cart.
I am having the same issue as randym. I cannot access the gold cart upgrade. All I see is a blank area underneath the Premium Upgrade Files header. I can’t seem to find a session ID on my receipt. I tried entering my email instead, and that’s when I get the blank page under the header. Any idea why that is? Thanks!
Sweet, will have to install this one!
Hi, nice work. Hoped to find the permalinks bug fixed. Any Idea when you will fix that?
Hi Fabian,
Does your site have the permalinks issue? and would you be willing to share your details with us so we can debug this – the permalinks problems are one of the last major bugs to fix and we are keen to get onto it – The only problem is they are tickey little things and we can’t recreate them ourselves!
Send Gary and myself an email.

Hi Mychelle,
I am also having the permalink issue on my still under-construction website. If you like, you’re more than welcome to have a bit of a look around the back end of my store/site to see if you can see what is causing this issue.
I sent you through an email to both of the addresses listed.
Just a quick question, btw THANK YOU for the update
Is there a way to choose how many thumbnails show in one row in the gallery? Is it controlled by some div somewhere? I tried to adjust it so that 3 are spread out evenly below the main image, but when I have 4 thumbnails, it just continues beside the other rather than below.
I hope that makes sense :S
That’s a Gary / Michelle question
Ok one more thing because I think its a bug. When I first open my single product page, the main image is small, but when i click any of the thumbnails, they main image becomes large (as its supposed to be all the time). Is that bug?
Thanks!
Hi citrine
Can you provide me a link to you store so I can see your images – I can then tell you if its a bug – as for your image gallery you can adjust the css of your image – col to have a fixed width that is the same as the main photo – that way all your images will fall in below and not spread across, you can then resize your thumbnails so they fit perfectly 3 across the bottom – If you put a link to your store I can tell you what to change.
Thanks
Michelle
“database ready to import products” bug is still there
should I deactivate and reactivate the plugin?
Yes that one shouldnt be there – I will also look into the paypal issue you noted as this should be working correctly – have you got the use ipn setting enabled?
ok, deactivating and reactivating has got ridden of the alert
while the order closed does not work with paypal standard, but I have all options set to no, will try with yes now
even with IPN option on, the order remains “incomplete” and has to be closed manually in the wp dashboard
but paypal payment is issued and accepted
is the ipn setting also enabled within your paypal account? not jsut in wp-e-commerce? I will test this all now and if its a bug I will fix it and get back to you.
Michelle
I went to my account into paypal.com website and managed I think to activate the IPN stuff
I put as a return URL the http://mysite.it/products-page/transaction-results
But WPEC treats the payment as if it is a MANUAL PAYMENT and sends the email to the customer that he has to pay even if it has successfully payed with paypal!!!
Please can you tell me what should I do into paypal.com my account page and which “return url” should I put???
Or, better, can you tell me where is the documentation on this site for me to study and stop losing all this time in trying to make the plugin work and harass you?
Thank you
Nice release, but bad timing… I just manaually fixed a lot of bugs mentioned here. Now have to upgrade cautiously
That will teach you for not collaborating / working with us in the dev mailing list
“Fix: Table `wordpress.wp_wpsc_product_list` doesn’t exist”
Yes, now i can use WP e-comeerce. =D
I still cant get light box to work on new updates, single product view has no lightbox features, when it is turned on in wpec admin presentation settings.
I would bet that it is a plugin conflict, is there any tools to help identify culprits.
thanks
im going to open up a thread on forum, now
Hi Eoin,
This could be a plugin conflict – most likely cause is a duplicate jquery library or something of the sorts.
I can help you work through this if you like – can you provide me a link to your forum thread.
Thanks
Michelle
Hi! I have updated to WP ecommerce 3.8.2. and shortcode [products] on homepage stopped working. Anyone can help me?
Thanks
Hi Misa,
This is not normal behavior! I assume you activated your new plugin etc? can you send me a link to your store.
Thanks
I really need help with upgrading. I am still stuck on the ‘products missing’ issue. I am happy to give you login credentials if you could contact me via message or email.
I was getting the notice to upgrade my database until today. I upgraded the wpsc plugin and the gold cart AND ran the WP upgrade and now I am not getting the upgrade your database notice.
So no database upgrade notice. No products. No categories. No variations.
PLEASE HELP!!! I have been scouring the forums for the last two weeks but nothing.
Hiya bigmountain,
I can help you with your upgrade send me an email and we will go from there,
michelle@instinct.co.nz
Thanks
When a customer pays with paypal standard, the WPEC plugin does not automatically check the “payment completed” or “order closed” flag in the orders list
Stupid question… I tried to install the zip file thru wordpress dashboard… error said directory already existed. What is the best methodology to upgrade an existing install? I looked around the site but didn’t see any information. I can FTP file up to the server if needed. What am I missing?
Hi Jbc,
Your been told that because your other wp-e-commerce plugin is called the same thing – the easiest thing to do would be to rename your older version to wp-e-commerce-old then try again
If you have any issues or questions flick me an email michelle@instinct.co.nz – this is a nice quick easy one I can resolve for you.
Thanks
Michelle
Hi, I have a blog with more than 1500 products loaded but not a lot to try to update the date but different forms 10 times WordPro and the plugin but I jump error.
Wanted to know how I have to do to upgrade that version of my blog of my shop is worpess version 2.9.
I await your response. Thank you very much
Hi Rio,
What’s WordPro, and what are the different forms that you referred to?
If you’re running WordPress 2.9, please upgrade to at least 3.0. WP e-Commerce 3.8 requires at least WP 3.0 to function properly.
Please make sure to have a backup copy of your database and files before you upgrade anything.
Hi Michelle,
There was no reply button so I hope you read this regarding my product images.
The link is: http://www.squidlimbsdesigns.com/kokofox/products-page/category/another-test/
As you can see even the description has been pushed below now.
Thanks so much!
Hiya,
First off your image gallery light box is not working – Have you turned this option on in your presentation settings? Under settings > store > presentation “use lightbox”
For your image gallery the CSS you will want to change to realign all your images is below:
Find the wpsc-default.css file in /wp-content/themes/twentyten/wpsc-default.css and on or around line 441
.imagecol {float: left;
margin-right: 5px;
position: relative;
width: 300px;
}
By adding in this width your gallery images will be contained under your main large image.
You will probably want to add some more padding to so in the same file on line 548 copy this block of code over the old one
.productcol {
margin-bottom: 0;
margin-left: 320px !important;
margin-right: 0;
margin-top: 0;
position: relative;
width: 430px;
}
Don’t forget that these widths have been set to your current image size so if you change these you will need to change these values.
Michelle
Thank you!
Hello All..
I am posting here because I have no way to get into the Premium Support that I have purchased. My user name and password are not working and when I request a new one; the email that is supposed to have my password never arrives. I have a support question and no way to get support. Please forgive me if this is the wrong place for this issue but, I haven’t found ANY other way to contact technical support on this.
Thank you very much in advance.

Hi
Did you find a solution to this I am having the same problem?
Pingback: WordPress e-Commerce Plugin 3.8.2 is here! | Tokokoo
Hello, i have same problem like Kisa > this is problem Fatal error: Call to a member function have_variations() on a non-object in /data/m/i/michalopalek.com/sub/try/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/wpsc-includes/product-template.php on line 1360
Sorry * MISA not Kisa
Yes, I have same problem. Still waiting for a solve problem.
In the checkout page to finalize the order, I cannot see anymore the line when you copy billing address into shipping address
Where did the settings go? I can’t find where to make settings/config changes anymore.!
They’re under the main WordPress “Settings” section on the left, called “Store”
Hello,
Just did the upgrade, The sales Log detail page still show wrong Grand total (?page=wpsc-sales-logs&purchaselog_id=ID)
The Shipping cost is added twice….
Hope this helps.
I have lost the ability to include the php and css files into the Editor, and also the “flush cache” button has desappeared. Why this?
Hey guys, simple update and now the store is broke.
Your WP e-Commerce data needs to be updated. You’ve upgraded from a previous version of the WP e-Commerce plugin, and your store needs updating. You should update your database for your store to continue working. Update WP e-Commerce
Updating Categories…
Updating Variations…
Updating Products… Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home4/chicagov/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 424
Same here, site is broken with exactly same as stated.
Same error. Turned off all other plug-ins, deactivated/reactivated. Tried to refresh (as suggested) over 20 times to see if additional data could be pulled through. Went live with the store refreshed all links, cleared cache. This gave me 1 item from each category (all others did not show up), no further errors in running the store. Would this indicate that the DB did not completely update with the product information? I attempted upgrade on two occasions with same results. Server has latest php.
Exactly the same here. I have posted the error in the forum, I hope we get a quick resolution.
Yes, I am having the same – Fatal error with media.php on line 424.
There must be a way of manually updating the cart to bypass this error, but I’m not sure…anyone out there know?
I got the same error and can’t find a solution to it:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in …/wp-includes/media.php on line 455
anyone, please? I am quite desperate.
Same problem here…
Fatal error on database update to 3.8 (using the latest WP version 3.1.2)…
Updating Categories…
Updating Variations…
Updating Products…
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Hosting\2819262\html\Web_v3\wp-includes\media.php on line 427
Anyone respond to this yet?
Not that I have heard. I keep this page and the resource-blog page bookmarked and check back frequently. I sent Michelle at Instinct a couple of emails, she seemed helpful initially, but seems we’re stuck. Keep trying!!
wondering if there was ever a fix to this? I have a fresh install and am unable to add product pics without this error. :c(
I love this shop, and it has what it takes to be THE wordpress shopping card. I do have a few issues that maybe should be included in the next realease…
1) Shipping doesn’t seem to work – when I enable it I get a bunch of php array errors if I turn reporting on. It wont let me set flat, or any of the dynamic rates despit installing the shipping plugin, and filling in all the proper fields.
2) Inventory management also seems to have a few problems.. if I partially fill out an order, it sets the item as purchased even if the order isn’t completed. In my case I have alot of single inventory items, so it unnecesarily closes out items before their sold if customer doesn’t complete the transaction.
Are there any solutions to these problems?
On the presentation settings, the new advanced settings includes ‘functions.php’. Despite ticking all the boxes, that one unticked itself and didn’t get moved.
My home page is fine but all the other pages are showing 404 errors and my shopping cart widget doesn’t show up on them either. That has to be because of the ‘functions.php’ not moving doesn’t it?
Also, I can’t seem to find the setting to ‘fix permalinks’ that used to be somewhere. Maybe I’m just missing it.
I hope this helps with the fix, I saw a post up top about permalinks issues and if you still need a site to help with stuff let me know.
All the best, and good luck
Damn, after installing I’m in a world of pain… in particular it seems to have deleted a custom menu and a number of product categories, not to mention messed with some CSS
- there go’s my saturday…
…and it seems to have turned on ‘comments’ for all products? random stuff like this.
Will the Gold Cart update fix the problem with the Members Only module, in that I now no longer have a way to set the duration of a subscription for a product since upgrading? My only option now is to set something as “members only” or not…I can’t set a subscription length or anything like that, which makes my paid Members Only module completely useless now that I’ve upgraded. No one in the forums has been willing to address this problem for me, and I have no other recourse to get this fixed…I’m getting frustrated!
Tried to download the upgrades to gold cart with my session ID with no luck.
I bought from Instinct but when using myn session ID and also using firsname, lastname and email I only get a page with no information
Hey,
This may not be the right place to ask, but I can’t find it anywhere, if I buy the Gold Cart plugin, how long will I receive updates for it? Also, I saw the support packs that can be added to it, but I can’t find the link for that either, it seems to be broken. Where would I find that link and the answer to how long will I receive plugin updates?
how to disable comments for all products at once?
It seems “show all” is only not working at Main Page. Anyway, it is weird if using “show all” at category page, it doesn’t show all, only changing the order of the product…
I’m just trying to complete the upgrade for one of my clients. The database upgrade is stalling as others have described above. The store probably has 200+ products. I’ve reached this point once or twice, but never any further:
Update WP e-Commerce
Updating Categories…
Updating Variations…
Updating Products…
I’ve had the webhost who is a friend as well as professional hosting and design firm proprietor bump up the the CPU and set the max ram limit at 2GB (double what it was). I still can’t get the DB upgrade to complete, the process keeps erroring with a webserver error. Analysis of the processes on the server shows the memory usage isn’t very great, about 110mb, but the processor is 100% maxed out.
http://www.ugra-soap.ru/?wpsc_product_category=%D0%BC%D1%8B%D0%BB%D0%BE-%D0%B4%D0%BB%D1%8F-%D0%B1%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%82%D1%8C%D1%8F
in the settings category is “Grid View”- shows the list! how to fix? how to disable the border around the product? how to disable the rubrics and comments in the goods? When you finally stop to spread unchecked updates?
I am unable to add more images to the Image Product Gallery after adding preliminary images. There’s no “Use as Product Thumbnail” button.
I referred to this post – http://staging.getshopped.org/forums/topic.php?id=20322 which shows how to add new photos using that button, but there’s no such thang.
hey! for which I paid the money?? this plugin does not work properly for me??

Hi –
I had a question about my checkout process. The checkout page will show up temporarily, but then it disappears shortly after.
I can’t figure out why it is doing this. I am pretty sure I uploaded the paypal information correctly as well. Any ideas??
Hi Mychelle:
After the upgrade, all my pages (see link below) are rendering: “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.”
http://phantomsportspicks.com/products-page/buy-football-picks/
Does this have something to do with the “permalinks” issue referenced above?
I’m simply using short-codes in WordPress pages themselves.
Tony Zeoli
Mychelle:
I ended up reverting back to the previous version. There are too many issues.
Once I switched over to the latest version, it broke the permalink. I tried both plug-ins suggested by one of the forum experts, but those didn’t solve the issue.
I found a weird bug in that when I went to update the permalink structure once, some pages with shortcode on single products worked, but if a page had products in a group, they didn’t work. Once I updated the permalink structure a second time, nothing worked.
If I removed the “/” on the back of the permalink structure, I did see pages, but like above, some products worked and some didn’t.
Also, the PayPal price no longer passed over to PayPal.
It’s honestly just a mess and I don’t have the time of the patience to deal with it. I’m sorely disappointed that this upgrade did not go smoother. I know you’re all working very hard on this, but there are way too many issues.
If you want, I can ship you off a .zip with the entire site and database, then you can install it on your server and try to upgrade it, so you can see the bugs I found.
Let me know.
I selected the option on a few of my products for users to be able to Personalize their product during checkout. When you click on the product, there is a box to enter the info, but there is no submit button or anything to send that info through.
did you find the solution for “Call to a member function have_variations() on a non-object”?
i am trying to generate a specific coupon code but when i enter a condition the code does not work at all. what should i do or can anyone help?
The beginning of the ***\wp-includes\class-http.php add these line
set_time_limit (0);
it work 100%
Welcome
I am just wondering about something,…
I have been using WP E-Commerce plugin with Gold Cart now for 2 years.
Although WP E-commerce for the most part suits my needs and I am happy with it, there are 2 issues I have however that I feel would be great if they could be resolved. Now I might be missing something so please do tell me if whatever I am asking for already exists.
1) Display Price (Per what?),…would it be possible for you guys to create a dropdown menu next to the “price” field where we can select either “per piece”, “per kg”, “per dozen” or any other variation.
2) When adding new categories that are NOT linked to the “Products page” it seems impossible to change the permalinks without screwing up everything. now I would have thought that issue would have been resolved when you guys did the complete WP integration overhaul but for some reason I still have this problem with the permalinks.
Sorry

Hi Misa,
Did you get this sorted you seem to have products on your page and the single products are all working? Was the link you provided directly to your products page where this short code is?
Having a hard time finding my way around your shop – I only speak English
I really like the look of your shop though nice theme and layout!
Hi check my problem,it’s the same problem on index page, we are working on the same project with Misa. I’m testing it on my hosting with turn on all php errors. Message are in my first post here…
Sorry, no posts matched your criteria on Wp e-commerce Gold. I am having this same problem. Did you manage to get a way out. I am stuck against a delivery. Could you help.
The beginning of the ***\wp-includes\class-http.php add these line
set_time_limit (0);
it work 100%
Welcome
just add this line in your wp-includes/class-http.php at the top inside <?php
set_time_limit (0);
izzudd, are you talking about the fix to the media.php time out issue?
I haven’t been able to figure out if this issue has been fixed or not.
