WP e-Commerce

Update (Jun 4th, 2012): An additional bug with shipping & total order values in Sales Log page has been fixed in this package.

The release has addressed all the major issues with 3.8.8. However, there were still a few minor issues that some of the users are still encountering. As a result, we’re releasing another minor release,, in a week. The following issues are fixed in this minor release:

* Change: CSV sales export now puts the item quanity in a separate column from
  the product title.
* Core checkout fields cannot be restored if they were deleted before upgrading
  to 3.8.8.
* Insecure SSL resources when WordPress is using SSL, or "Force SSL Checkout"
  is enabled.
* Issue with WPML and Variations.
* Terms and Conditions - Checkout page breaks if you read the terms and
* Total shipping value and total price incorrect in transaction results.
* Total shipping value and total price incorrect in Sales Log details page. (Jun 4th, 2012)
* Variation sales prices are inaccurate in Product Specials Widget

In order to make it easy for you to test before we release it officially, we made the package available and you can download it from WordPress.org.

One very important thing though, as the name suggests, the purpose of this package is for you to test. It’s not guaranteed to be stable yet, so please don’t use this on your live site unless you really know what you’re doing. This is supposed to be used on your test site only.

It’s still recommended that you back up your test site before using this package.

If you discover any new issues introduced by this package, please let us know via the comment section below!

This is all cheese and biscuits – but when is this issue:

    due to be fixed?

    • tak June 1, 2012 at 2:39 am

I hope this fixes the problem:
“Total shipping value and total price incorrect in transaction results.”

      Hi Patrick,

I’m Gary, lead dev of WPEC.

That particular fix was not included in the package linked above. It was originally scheduled for 3.8.9.

However, upon further review, we’ve decided to move it to We’ll post an update test package shortly that includes this fix.

Patrick, file has been updated with the fix you requested.

I have to defend Gerard Whateley’s piece here. There’s no porlbem with expansion. However, the AFL has essentially re-written the rules on the establishment of a team gearing it towards early success. That needs to be acknowledged. I, for one, still want to believe in sport as being based on fairness, competition, hard work and heart. Gerard is spot on the necessity of commerce has squashed the heart of sport again.Spot on with Rebecca Wilson, however.

hopefully the checkout form should be fixed, we cannot add New Field.

    • Gary Cao June 4, 2012 at 1:17 pm

      Hi freezebox,

I’m Gary, lead dev of WPEC.

We need more details in order to fix this. Do you mean you can’t add a new field in Store Settings->Checkout? Or do you mean your checkout fields are not displayed? A screenshot would be very helpful.

If you’re talking about the Store Settings->Checkout page, this usually means there’s a JavaScript error somewhere. There could be some incompatibility with other plugins that you’re using.

My suggestion is to enable Maintenance Mode on your website (there are many plugins that let you do this). Then disable all plugins except for Wp e-Commerce, and revert your theme back to TwentyEleven (or TwentyTen), and check to see if the problem persists.

If it does, please give us as much details as possible (screenshots etc.) and we’ll set you up with one-on-one support to solve this.

If the problem goes away when you deactivate the other plugins, it means there’s an incompatibility with one of them. You can start by re-activate these plugins one by one and see which one is causing the issue. Then let us know the name of that plugin so that we could plan a fix for this.

      Hi Scott,

I’m Gary, lead dev of WPEC.

The terms and conditions issue has been fixed.

However, the issue with state & zip code selection for USPS is out of the scope of this release. is meant to be a bug fix release for issues caused by the 3.8.8 update.

We admit that this is indeed an important UX issue. This has been reported as a ticket on our developer channel and scheduled for 3.8.9 release:

As soon as there is a solution for this issue, we will contact you along with all the posters in that forum thread about the fix.

In the mean time, it would be very helpful if you could go to that dev channel ticket and provide as much details regarding your shipping settings as possible, so that we could reliably reproduce this issue on our testing servers.

I tested and noticed that taxes are not calculated on the Total Order Value. Do you plan to fix it in the definitive version?

    • Gary Cao June 4, 2012 at 1:19 pm

      Hi matteo,

I’m Gary, lead dev of WPEC.

We would like to have more details about the issue you’re having, in order to be able to reproduce it on our test servers.

What tax settings are you using (inclusive or exclusive, base country & region etc.)?

By “Total Order Value”, do you mean the total amount in the transaction results page, the Sales Log page, or the notification emails?

      • matteo moretti June 5, 2012 at 9:10 am

        Hi Gary,

I enabled a 21% tax and the product price include the taxes.
Then “Add per product tax to tax percentage if product has a specific tax rate”
        and last
“Apply tax when Billing Country is the same as Shops base location”

imagine I have a 21% tax and the price of my item is 7.90€
I apply a 90% discount so the taxes should be applied on the final price of 0.79€ and not on the original price.
But in my sales logs I have a tax , for this item of 1.659€ (the 21% of 7.90 and not of 0.79)

hope you can fix it because is very important for my business to have a correct sales report…

        thank you in advance,

        • Gary Cao June 6, 2012 at 3:27 am

          Hi matteo,

Actually we’re aware of this limitation. WP e-Commerce currently calculate tax on subtotal before discount is applied.

We already have plans to fix this in our next major release 3.8.9 which is estimated to be released in July/August. This is a major change as it will affect current stores, so we need to do a lot of testing.

As a result, I’m afraid that for the time being this issue is not fixed in or any future 3.8.8.x upgrades. However, we will personally contact you as soon as there is a working and tested solution so that you could give us feedback before we make it official in 3.8.9.

We’re sorry for the trouble. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other issues!

I am looking for the best shipping plugin for Indonesian online store. Can anyone help me?

    • Dan Milward June 4, 2012 at 2:56 pm

What are the preferred / most common shipping companies over there?

      • Mr. Sharz June 5, 2012 at 9:14 pm

Hi Dan Milward, the most popular shipping company are JNE and TiKi.
Thank you very much if you can help.

  5. tiger777 June 5, 2012 at 5:22 pm

    Slight issue…

    Transaction Results
Sorry your transaction was not accepted.

After hitting Purchase, it stays on the Checkout Page.

    Please help.

    Thank you!

    • Gary Cao June 6, 2012 at 3:30 am

      Hi Tiger777,

I’m Gary, lead dev of WPEC.

We need more details in order to help you with this issue. Do you have any screenshots of your checkout forms? Do you have any custom fields?

One of the most common causes for this is your Shipping settings. Please check to see whether you have Shipping enabled without any Shipping methods (Fixed rate, table rate, USPS etc.) selected.

If you have nowhere to upload your screenshots or share your site details securely, feel free to shoot an email to gary[at]instinct.co.nz with all the details, and we’ll sort it out for you :)

  6. cchandra June 6, 2012 at 3:03 am

Hi can you please tell me if jquery if the latest version of jquery 1.7 is used on WP e-Commerce ?

    • Gary Cao June 6, 2012 at 3:33 am

      Hi cchandra,

I’m Gary Cao, lead dev of WPEC.

WP e-Commerce is not bundled with its own version jQuery. Instead, WPEC uses the jQuery file that already comes with WordPress.

So if you’re running WordPress 3.3 for example, jQuery 1.7 is included.

  7. J Ruiz June 7, 2012 at 12:25 am

Any idea when you will release version Your original post only indicates release in one week. Two of the issues fixed are affecting my site but I don’t want to install a dev release. Thanks.

    • Mychelle June 8, 2012 at 7:44 am

      Hi J Ruiz,

Michelle here from WPEC, A few extra fixes was added into the release so a bit more time was taken for testing. is indeed out now and ready for you to upgrade!

  8. debora June 7, 2012 at 9:22 pm

    Please help.

    Thank you!
I have problems with release version

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\wamp\www\sito2\wp-includes\class-http.php on line 901

    what it means?

  9. bsod June 13, 2012 at 8:54 am

Hi, I am using and I have an issue with the tax calculations – I have Product Prices set to Tax Inclusive, however, the total price doesn’t change when I select countries with different tax bands. Should the total price not adjust?

    • Mychelle June 13, 2012 at 3:32 pm

      Hi Bsod,
Michelle here from WPEC This should be adjusting I am going to get the lead developer Gary to look at this as it may be a problem. I will get him to provide and update.

      • bsod June 13, 2012 at 9:12 pm

Hi Michelle – thanks. If it’s any help, an example case is that I have 20% tax set up for several European countries, inc the UK where the store is based. If I change the shipping address to a country such as USA , the tax detail/line in the price calculation is removed, but the total price remains the same.

        • Mychelle June 15, 2012 at 9:04 am

          Hi bsod,

Thanks for clearing that up sounds like you might have spotted a bug here. I am going to test this myself and make sure the lead developer knows about it. If I can recreate I will make an issue and this will be fixed ASAP.
I will update you with my results shortly.

        • Mychelle June 15, 2012 at 9:33 am

          Hi Bsod,

I was not able to recreate this problem on my installation but that could be because I don’t have the exact same tax settings as you is there any change you could provide me with a screen shot of your tax settings?

I want to be sure Im creating your problem correctly.

  10. bsod June 18, 2012 at 10:01 pm

Hi Michelle, here’s a screenshot of my settings here: http://www.webpagescreenshot.info/img/800623-6182012125447PM – let me know if you want me to send anything else.

When you tested this, did the total price re-adjust when you selected a country where tax was less or not applicable?

Thanks for your help so far.

  11. Mychelle June 19, 2012 at 10:16 am

    Hi Bsod,

I was able to get the total price adjusting everytime I selected a country that had no tax or less tax, it would change back when I selected a country that had tax.

I have just taken a look at your settings you have set your product tax to be inclusive, this states that inclusive tax wont adjust the total cost of the product but it will include a line item on the invoice with the tax amount. Are you sure your not meant to be using tax exclusive? I think this is what your after. I apologize you said in your first comment your tax was inclusive but I completely missed it.

Please try exclusive tax and let me know if its what your after.

  12. bsod June 22, 2012 at 4:28 am

Hi Michelle, ok that makes sense then – I’ve reset to exclusive of tax.

Interestingly, just came across an issue where changes to prices in variation fields aren’t being saved, and require each product’s set of variations to be recreated from scratch for the new price to take effect. Is this a known issue following an upgrade?

    • Mychelle June 22, 2012 at 2:56 pm

Hmm this is not a known problem and definitely not one I can recreate. Can you confirm that your saving each variant once you update its details? (useing the save button next to the variation your editing?) Also saving the main product at the end?

  13. bsod June 25, 2012 at 11:26 pm

Hey Mychelle – right, it works fine when saving each variation individually, but not when changing the values for each variation and using the main product Update button. That’s fine now I know what’s going on.

There is one other (hopefully final) problem, which is that although shipping values are set as flat rate in the admin, the shipping amounts being calculated in the checkout do not match those set. E.g there is 7.50 being added as shipping costs for all products, but the flat rate for UK shipping is set to 3.50. Here is a screenshot of my shipping settings: http://www.webpagescreenshot.info/img/279607-625201221833PM

    • Mychelle June 26, 2012 at 5:16 pm

      Hi Bsod,

Can you confirm that you dont have any additional shipping amounts set to the products (if the product is a variation then you will need to click the configure variant shipping link)? Product shipping amounts will get added to the base rate set. Can you also confirm what you have set your base country and region to in your general store settings.
