WP e-Commerce turns 3.7.6.9

WP e-Commerce 3.7.6.9 made its appearance earlier today including a raft of fixes aligning WP e-Commerce closer with WordPress best practices and stability improvements.

If the version number (3.7.6.9) is any indication this release also marks the end of an era as the 3.8 series prepares to kick off including standards-based integration with WordPress for custom Post types, the WordPress image gallery system as well as Post Categories and Terms taxonomy.

Highlight of changes in 3.7.6.9

Without a doubt the crown of highlights in 3.7.6.9 goes to stability fixes within the Checkout process, e-Commerce Tracking comes close behind in my own priorities.

  • Unclaimed Checkout cart item quantities reset hourly
  • e-Commerce Tracking works with Google Analytics for WordPress
  • Sale search and delete log works within Store > Sales
  • More fixes to Checkout options
  • You can now toggle visibility of the WP e-Commerce Product List RSS from Store > Settings > Presentation
  • Updated support for the latest release of DropShop

Fixes in 3.7.6.9

Fixes that have gone into 3.7.6.9 are also being applied to WP e-Commerce 3.8.

  • Unclaimed Checkout cart item quantities reset hourly
  • Sale search and delete log works within Store > Sales
  • Fixed presentation of Current Month widget on Store > Sales page
  • More fixes to Checkout options
  • Fix to force variation price to update on product page load
  • Deleted categories are no longer visible within the tinyMCE Display Products panel
  • Renamed “Last 30 Days” to “This Month” reflecting the behavior of the e-Commerce dashboard widget
  • Fixed implode issue on products tags

New features in 3.7.6.9

A modest list of additions in this release as development priorities are obviously flowing into 3.8 and stemming off its use of custom Post types; get ready to say goodbye to wp_wpsc_products.

  • You can now toggle visibility of the WP e-Commerce Product List RSS from Store > Settings > Presentation
  • Updated support for the latest release of DropShop
  • Added stripslashes() to the output of custom Product meta on the front-end and within Sales > Products
  • Added new POT file for translations

    Hi,

I’ve downloaded the plugin but not activated yet. (Still building other areas.) My question is, “should I”? Or should I wait for 3.8? If I go ahead with 3.7x, will the upgrade be just a one-button click thing? Or is it going to be me re-doing a lot of my work?

Hi Bob, I’m using 3.7.6.9 on my Visser Labs Shop, I’ll be updating my other stores over the next few days.

The ball is really in your court, if you can wait and don’t want to migrate your theme files from 3.7 -> 3.8 using the one click updater then hold off, otherwise get started today with 3.7.6.9 and when it comes time to upgrade to 3.8 setup a staging site, make sure everything came across and you’re happy with the changes then update your live site.

Heck I don’t even know exactly. It’ll be soon though… maybe another couple of weeks if we’re lucky. I suspect by then though we should have a beta version ready for public testing / feedback.

    Hi,

i can’t register in the support forums, so i ask here.

I’m using WP e-Commerce Plugin Version 3.7.6.7 and now i want to format my product description with headings and subheadings, but i’m not able to change the text size. I tried to use both h1 tag and span style formating, but none of them works.
    Thanks Hans

Hi Hans, I’ve knocked off reCaptcha from bbPress. Please try again and let me know if you have any trouble.

WP e-Commerce has an allowed list of elements which may be affecting the presentation of your Product Description, I’ve raised this as an Issue to be discussed by the Core WP e-Commerce team. Create a support topic once you’ve registered :)

My WordPress Backend also says there’s a Gold Cart upgrade available to version 2.6 – where might I get that I wonder? It sends me to the generic blog page but I can’t find a topic that covers it.

    Thanks ;-)

    Hi there,

I faced this bug in WPSC 3.7.6.7 where the discounted price is not sent to paypal when using paypal standard 2.0 gateway in . Today I downloaded this release – 3.7.6.9 and still the same.

Discount is applied and shown on the checkout page but is not sent to paypal. After when payment is made at paypal the the amount received in the purchase report email is also discounted..???

I tried using all themes available i.e. default, marketplace & iShop… but none of these forward the discount. It rather seems to be a problem with the gateway itself as when I used Paypal Standard gateway, discount forwarding worked as expected.

    Any ideas??

Thanks a lot for this great product anyways :)

Hey guys, it looks like there might be a problem with the pagination on your blog…. When I hit older posts, it shows the same thing as page 1…. same on page 3, etc – http://staging.getshopped.org/blog/page/3/. Not sure if anyone else has this problem.

I am hesistant to upgrade because the LinkPoint gateway did not work. Will it finally work. I already have a premium ticket submitted, and my client is running out of patience. He bought the gold cart just for the LinkPoint payment gateway functionality.

new variations on existing products is broken… i’ve tried in both IE and FF (latest versions) and the problem still exists. when i add a varation, it does not populate the various price fields nor does it allow me to uncheck possible variables. definitely need to fix this one quick!

in 3.8 you need absolutely new POT file with ALL (really ALL) language strings – not bugs version like 3.7.6.9 where is missing maybe 50% of all language strings…

This is really great stuff. Are recurring payments through Paypal accepted yet?

    • Dan Milward September 3, 2010 at 5:21 pm

They have been available in the Members Plugin for a long time now. Next week we should be launching a new version of the Members Plugin. Its super duper cool – in fact its a brand new Plugin. Its nothing like our old one at all. Its quite simply… amazing.

Ok, I understand you work a lot. But you have to understand us also! We are using your e-commerce plugin becuase it’s free – so please help us using it!!!

Be fair its not easy for us, who dont even speak english to understand everything! And it’s hard for us to write in english. Can you at least try to read what we ask? Can you please answer our questions? Or is it that you don’t know answers?

We don’t know how to translate e-commerce! Do you know how urgent it is to translate it? We can not sell anything to our customers if shop is in foreign language! I offered you help to translate in slovenian language and i’m still offering you that. Is it hard for you to contact me? A lot of slovenians are using e-commerce and we need it translated!

Another thing. Give us some options! I dont need two thickbox! I definitly need one for other pictures that i put in wordpress posts. And then it is ugly when someone clicks on e-commerce product image and always shows two pictures. Give us an option please to turn off thickbox!

And it’s insulting us you don’t know slovenians currency is EURO.

We love e-commerce because it’s the best shopping plugin but we are very dissapointed beacuse you don’t here us crying for help.

    Hi,
I downloaded the plugin and tried it out. Basically have 4 different tax brackets (Ontario, BC, The rest of Canada and The US), which seems easy enough to handle. I also have 4 shipping price zones (Ontario, BC, 7 Territories in Canada and 3 other Territories in Canada, that are more remote), plus USA (where I need people to call for shipping costs). Then there’s the rest of the world where I currently cannot ship to. and I have 4 different weight brackets.

I thought I need to use table rate but I see this is based on price or weight but does not change in different zones.
Is there a module that can help me? Or is there a way to modify the code so that I can have different zones and different weight based shipping costs?

    Thanks,
    David.

    • Dan Milward September 10, 2010 at 3:04 pm

Hi David, Taxes are changing considerably in the upcoming 3.8 release – I think you should take a look at that and see whether the new tax system solves your problems.

      • Tara W September 12, 2010 at 6:42 pm

Dan, will this include an issue I have reported previously in the forum and developers sections, of removing the tax component when the customer resides outside of the store’s locked country?

  12. Rene @ WPwebshop September 15, 2010 at 7:57 am

    Hi,

I couldn’t find a contact form, so trying this way… Do you have an affiliate program for webmasters who want to sell the premium version of WP e-Commerce?

  13. SemperFideles September 18, 2010 at 12:04 pm

This has a bug in the Export CSV function of the Sales Logs. It only exports into CSV a small subset of the actual information in the purchase logs.

Thanks of the information. I am using the previous version, I think I am updating. When is the beta coming?
