3.7.6.3 Released into the Wild

It’s been too long, but finally it’s here the *other* bug release everyone has been asking for. We took a long time getting here, but let me assure you things just got a whole lot better for developers and users a like. We have just started a developers bug reporting system on google code so the developers community can really see what’s been reported and what needs attention. Which is great. We have also released a new *beta* system for Premium Users (Gold Cart Users) to request support from the developers community,, previously all premium support requests were going to the one man. Now they are released to the trusted developers team, which means more answers from a wider range of knowledgeable sources. The system has had a few kinks that we are frantically ironing out, but more will be revealed when Sensei Dan arrives back into HQ (mid next week).
As for this release, we have a few nasty bugs that have hopefully been exterminated with love and care from the dev team. In no standing order they are:

Bugfix release

  • When a Category is not allowed to be shipped to a country the error message is now removed on next page load.
  • Available stock is now freed up correctly
  • Permalinks broken when using nordic characters
  • Tax included text strings aren’t translated
  • Total Amount is no longer negative is a discount used is larger than the total amount
  • Norwegian translation
  • Product list not showing in admin email report
  • State shows Alabama (or other default region) if the country does not have states
  • Shipping same as billing bug revisited
  • Share this Fixes
  • Added %find_us% tag so you can include how the customer found the website in your purchase report
  • Fix pagination to work with search results.

Theme notes

In this version the above bug fix ‘ When a Category is not allowed to be shipped to a country the error message is now removed on next page load.’ requires theme edits, if your theme is in your wpsc/themes folder (not in wp-e-commerce) to view the change required please view the diff file here

It was a challenging few weeks getting these fixes in place for the release on top of supervising the new premium forums system, and supporting existing gold cart users. So I’d just like to thank Lee Willis, Ben Huson, James Collins, Michael Visser, Thomas Howard, Sensei Dan Milward and everyone else that has chipped in. Cheers guys!

Quick Checklist before you upgrade:

  1. Backed up your files?
  2. Backed up your Database?
  3. Moved your wp-e-commerce theme files to a safe place?
  4. Download the new version here

Good luck and have a good day.
Jeff

currency conversion still isn’t working for Paypal Payments Standard and when attempting to use PPS ’2.0′, it shows ‘Credit Card’ as the payment option on checkout and when submitting an order, an error comes up on the paypal side… just FYI.

    Hi Mark,

I wonder when will the Portuguese (pt_PT) language files be distributed with the upgrades of the plugin… If there is something to review about the files, just let me know.

If you need to download the files, here is the link: http://minacio.com/blog/plugins/traducao-plugin-wp-e-commerce-portugues-pt_pt/

    Bye,

    minacio

@minacio, have the portugese files not been updated? I noticed that Norwegian Translations were updated, the new POT files are in, the old ones had deprecated words, and not all the other words in them either,,, sorry about that :(

    • minacio June 4, 2010 at 4:24 am

      Hi again,

In fact, the files of the Portuguese translation (pt_PT) are not included in the plugin upgrades. I did the translation for version 3.7.6.1 and sent it to Mark … I suppose that the email has been received. I also have published a related post in the forum.

I am currently updating the translation for this new version (3.7.6.3), which will be published on my blog and also in the forum. Could you or Mark tell me what is the best way to send you the files, once I have finished the translation?

Let me make a suggestion … I think it would be important to have better communication between developers and translators, so that upgrades incorporate the updated translations. It would be good for all users of this fantastic plugin …

For any question or sugestion related to the translation of the plugin into European Portuguese (pt_PT), please contact me through my blog at http://minacio.com/blog/contacto

Do you think we should setup a new mailing list or should language file contributors sign up to the developers mailing list? I’d prefer to see just one list being used because it’d be easier to manage but ultimately the decision comes down to what best serves our community!!

        Feedback required :)

    • minacio June 4, 2010 at 11:34 am

      Hi Dan,

I supose you are right, it must be easier to manage one single mailing list. For me there is no problem to subscribe the developers mailing list… Just tell me how to do it. :)

  8. nanotrax June 3, 2010 at 7:12 pm

thanks so much for the great plugin and support. jeff got me all fixed up and i’m getting sales again! SWEEEEEET! :D

Hi, there’s a mistake in slovenian currency. Since 01.01.2007 Slovenia uses Euro and not Tolar.

  10. jnoonan June 4, 2010 at 2:01 am

Only problem we have now is our coupon setup does not remember the conditions we set for the coupon…they just disappear!

So basically permalinks will from now own feature all letters and entities, including “?, !” and punctuation marks? Not sure I’m a fan of that. Is there a way to change the permalink of a product to something else than the title? Meaning title: “Product one” and permalink from “product one” to “product-one”?

I am happy to report that my first test transactions using Google Checkout, Paypal and Linkpoint all worked perfectly! Now on to the full integration of Linkpoint and Quickbooks Merchant Services. If anyone has any insights or would like to collaborate on this process please email me at webmaster@ecopax.com.

    Thanks!

    hey guys,

might sound stupid, but why when i go on the download tab i can DL v3.7.6.1, when i go into the site pages i get to download v3.7.6.2 and here when i have installed it, and set it up for 1st time, i can download v3.7.6.3 ??

might want to make it a single download place with a history page where we can rollback if necessary ?

i’ll install 3.7.6.3 now anyhow after having downloaded it… would have saved me going through the steps 3x though :)

sorry for the rant, guess i need food :p

  14. Roy Ho June 4, 2010 at 11:11 am

I hope I am speaking too soon but I think the price is truncating after the decimal. A product that is set to 12.99 displays as 12 on the products page.

  15. Roy Ho June 4, 2010 at 11:13 am

To add to my previous post, it displays correctly in the checkout page…

  16. Roy Ho June 4, 2010 at 11:17 am

Gosh…I am forgetful today…I need to add it is showing this on grid view price…

  17. Roy Ho June 4, 2010 at 11:20 am

To fix the issue, I changed the grid view price display call to this:

    Copied from the products_page.php

  18. Roy Ho June 4, 2010 at 11:20 am

    Errrr..
    ‘echo wpsc_the_product_price(get_option(‘wpsc_hide_decimals’));’

  19. JWT Technologies June 4, 2010 at 2:52 pm

Has anyone else noticed that the tax is not added to the total in the shopping cart widget? It’s been like this for the last few builds. Anyone got a fix for this?

  20. Roy Ho June 5, 2010 at 9:06 am

I am also seeing what Hanna from above post is seeing on the permalink url.

Products title that is created with two or more words displays as a space in the permalink url. So Product 6 used to be created/displayed as product-6 is now just product 6 without the hyphen.

    • rayro June 7, 2010 at 10:06 am

As already stated – product permalinks prior to this release used standard hyphenation between words. Making any changes to products with this release will replace permalink hyphens with blank spaces, (resulting in %20 in URL). This is not cool!

  21. Netman June 7, 2010 at 6:26 am

I’m trying to translate this plugin in my language but i’m confused which file(s) should i edit?
So i changed some texts in En-en.php and wpsc-en_EN.pot, but no changes made.
    what should i do?
(I know working with poedit and…)
    plz help me…

    • minacio June 7, 2010 at 10:36 am

      Hi Netman,

If you know how to work with Poedit, it’s ths best way to translate the plugin (in my opinion). You must create a new catalog from a POT file… You’ll find the POT file “wpsc-en_EN” in “languages” folder.

You must also save the new .po and .mo files as wpsc-pt_PT – replacing pt_PT with you language code (in my case is European Portuguese) and upload them to the plugin “languages” folder.

For translation files work correctly, you should be running an installation of WordPress in the same language as the translated files.

Please correct me if I gave some incorrect information! :)

      • Netman June 7, 2010 at 8:22 pm

U r the best minacio, thx a million.
i just forgot to to put wpsc before the file name.
        it’s now work like a charm ! :)
        Thanks again man

I just upgraded and now have a fatal error

Warning: require_once(/home/domain/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/currency_converter.inc.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/domain/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/wp-shopping-cart.php on line 158

(I substitute domain for my domain). I love this product and have spent a lot of time with it.

  23. Netman June 8, 2010 at 2:51 am

How can i add words those aren’t in wpsc file? imean what is the conditions?
for instance “Financial Year End” isn’t there, how can i have it translated?

  24. Joe June 8, 2010 at 5:19 pm

I just upgraded the wp-ecommerce plugin, and yes, i was stupid not to make a backup. but my issue is that something is wrong with the language file in the directory of wp-ecommerce.

i get this all over the site (products related) for the cart:

    TXT_WPSC_PRICE:
    TXT_WPSC_NUMBEROFITEMS: 2
    TXT_WPSC_PRODUCT TXT_WPSC_QUANTITY_SHORT TXT_WPSC_PRICE
    Widget 2 $0.00

what do i need to check. the language file is defined with these items and permissions are ok.

I just implemented the %custom_fields% fix from this forum post: http://staging.getshopped.org/forums/topic.php?id=14400, but it doesn’t work now that I’ve upgraded WPEC. I just get the word “%custom_fields%” showing up in my admin report.

I also see that “Shipping same as billing bug revisited” is listed here, but my cart is still broken when a customer wants different countries for shipping and billing. Not sure if that’s what was being fixed, but I thought I’d put my .02 in about it. Sometimes it seems to work, and other times it resets the shipping to $0.00, and in all cases it displays the same country for both addresses, no matter what.
