Widgets

When you hear the word widget, don’t you keep expecting a little gremlin to appear? No? It’s just me? Ok, moving on.

According to WordPress a widget “is like a plugin, but designed to provide a simple way to arrange the various elements of your sidebar content (known as “widgets”) without having to change any code.” If you don’t know what a plugin is, look it up.

WP e-Commerce comes with a variety of widgets you can utilize (in addition to whichever WordPress widgets you want to add/use). Here they are in a handy dandy list.

  • Product Tags (displays a tag cloud of tags)
  • Product Categories (displays links to individual product categories/brands)
  • Shopping Cart (displays shopping cart in your sidebar)
  • Price Range (lets customers narrow down their search for a product based on price)
  • Donations (displays any products that are flagged as being a donation product in the sidebar)
  • Specials (displays any products on sale in the side bar)
  • Latest Products (displays your latest products in your sidebar)

Widgets are your friends. Just don’t feed them after midnite.
