Members and Capabilties 2.0 – Beta

We are pleased to announce that the new members and capabilties plugin is ready to be released. It is packed with lots a new features and functionality check it out!

You can download a FREE beta copy of it from here.

The members plugin is perfect for:

  • Creating subscriptions for your site that you can sell as products
  • Restricting access to different pages of your site.

Features

Manage users

Sorting and viewing your users is easy  with the latest version of our new Plugin, we have even included some bulk options and a user import feature. The Import feature allows you to quickly apply custom capabilities / subscriptions to any of your WordPress users, alternatively you can use the feature to remove these.

Manage Capabilities:

Creating new Capabilities / Subscriptions is even more simple than managing users, we give you some default capabilities but you can add as many as you like!

Create Subscriptions as Products

Creating subscriptions to sell is the same as creating products! The best part is that as people buy these subscriptions they will automatically be assigned the correct capabilities and imported into your users list. all you need to do is create a product, choose what capabilities you want to apply to users who buy the product, and sell it!

Create Restricted Posts and Pages

Even if you dont want to be selling your membership as a product, you can still use this plugin as a tool to limit who views your pages and posts. Just assign the required Capabilities to the page / post, Manually assign (or use the importer!) users to the Capability. If someone who is not authorized to view the post tries they will be told to login.

Page Preview

This is a nice little feature and something everybody has asked for. Simply use the short tag  [preview] [/preview] (in the main content for the page you are creating) to create a preview that will appear above the login box and message if the user does not have the correct capability. Great for teasing your users and encouraging them to pay to view the exclusive content, you can put anything in this short code, HTML, images, movies!

So there you have it, a nice easy to use Plugin full of easy to use functionality. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment – and if you need support getting it setup properly then post a message in the premium forums.

Will this work with bbPress. I have it integrated with my WordPress site.

Just a thought. It might be best to have the “recurring billing” and the “charge credit card every x days” options set to No by default rather then yes.

Is this the 2.0 version of the regular premium plugin “Members Only” module?

If so… in what things it differs from the first one?

By the way, I’ve just installed the Beta and it seems the [preview] shortcodes are not working correctly when a user is logged in but he didn’t purchase the membership. I get this:
“This page is for subscribers only, you must purchase a subscription in order to access this pageThis page is for subscribers only, you must purchase a subscription in order to access this page[/preview]”

If the user is not logged in then the [preview] shortcodes work fine.

Does the Beta need Gold Cart?

I also have this warning in the members admin page:
“Warning: date() expects parameter 2 to be long, string given in /home/vqshlpeg/public_html/luxsuria.com/wp-content/plugins/members/ecom_subscribers.php on line 104″

This is a new & different Plugin. It will eventually replace the old Members Only Plugin – however it is a whole new kettle of fish. Its Members ++!!

after a user buys, the get their page, but the previews disappear for the blocked pages just leaving the text.. the purchase_capiblities.php is not loading up the same stuff as the nonlogged in users… just this message as he explained..

any possible update on the progress of this plugin..

I installed the plugin and now have two membership types. So how do I select which pages are protected?

I ended up using BuddyPress with my blog, I liked the integration better. I have noticed that I can’t lock the access to the forums because they are dynamic pages, or is there something I don’t know about to keep non-members from seeing the forums. You can see it at http://ezgrogarden.com If you go to /groups it comes up.

    Hi!

I am creating a online magazine which will publish one number every month. Users will be able to buy subscription for 1, 3 or 6 months. I´m thinking of creating these three capabilities. The problem is that I don´t know how to make a 3-month subscriber only see magazines published from the date of subscription to the end of the subscription, AND still beeing able to view his/her three old magazines after end of subscription. Thoughts?
